My great works
"Making Up for Lost Time" is a personal narrative that I wrote during my AP Literature and Composition class. This paper is really special to me because it talks about my relationship with my dad and his struggle with cancer. He lost his battle with cancer twelve days after my 17th birthday and right before my senior year started, so it has been a difficult journey. This paper helped me vent my emotions and come to grips with my struggles.
This is a personal narrative that I wrote last year in English IV. As you may have read earlier on my website, swimming is my favorite sport. This paper gives some background on how I came to swimming my junior year, and also gives light of my determined and driven personality.
This paper was an assignment where I took the book, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, and related it to a poem we read in class called "A Bitterness," by Mary Oliver. The object of this paper was to relate themes from the book, and compare it to the poem. Quote integration and citations were big with this paper because we were dealing with different types of literature and using direct wording from those pieces.
This paper was fun to write because it allowed me to experiment with a different genre and giving me a new and inventive way on expressing my creativity that wasn't written as a traditional response paper.
